(for friends, family, or even yourself!)
Glass recycling is important. Glass is one of the only materials that can be recycled over and over again into the same product. Unlike paper or plastics, glass can be recycled right back into another bottle or jar. Recycling one ton of glass saves exactly one ton of raw materials.
• It saves enough energy to light a CFL for more than three years.
• It will power a television for a month.
• And, a six pack of boulevard beer bottles makes enough fiberglass insulation to fill a standard eight-foot tall wall cavity in someone’s home.

But some people see glass recycling as a chore. Everyone uses some glass, and we all have friends and family that don’t recycle it. But, did you know that Kansas City has three local businesses that will collect glass from your house and recycle it? With services that make it so easy, who wouldn’t recycle glass?

Atlas Glass, KC Curbside Glass, and the Glass Bandit are local, small businesses that offer subscription curbside recycling for glass (and only glass!). Each of these businesses provides a tote especially for bottles and jars. Depending on the business, customers can sign up for weekly, biweekly, or once-a-month collections.

Atlas, KC Curbside and Glass Bandit all deliver their glass to Ripple for beneficiation (Beneficiation is the process of removing contaminant and preparing used glass bottles and jars for remanufacturing.) As Ripple Glass Certified businesses, they give your glass a second chance!
